Modernization of wastewater management after ammunition neutralization

PROPOSAL FOR MODERNIZATION OF WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT AFTER AMMUNITION NEUTRALIZATION

The proposed modernization technology enables modern, ecological, and economical process management. The difficulties associated with maintaining strict standards for discharged wastewater create many limitations.
Post-detonation gas treatment systems use various methods to minimize waste generation and save water. Since gas treatment technology is based on the so-called wet method, a significant amount of liquid waste is produced. Absorption liquids must be replaced regularly, which results in high water demand.
Our technology allows ecological and economical process management while saving water and enabling the multiple reuse of the same medium. In our post-detonation wastewater treatment system, we capture mercury and heavy metals.
Standard wastewater management systems assume disposal of such wastewater by storing it in repositories.
Our system is a containerized – mobile station for the neutralization of post-detonation wastewater, easy to operate and highly effective. The installation is made of acid-resistant steel due to the type of medium and high temperature. All processes are monitored, and the system is prepared for every type of ammunition. Metallic mercury recovery is possible.
The treated medium has the value of a mineral fertilizer and is ready for storage or agricultural use.
The main principle is to capture contaminants at the place of their origin. This approach enables us to close the loop of the ongoing process.

ADVANTAGES OF OUR SYSTEM:

  1. Failure-free operation and easy handling – fully automated,
  2. Resistance to wear of ion-exchange resins used in purification (filtration),
  3. Compact system size,
  4. System mobility,
  5. Trace amounts of wastewater,
  6. Possibility of selective contaminant removal.

ACHIEVED BENEFITS:

  1. By applying ion-exchange technologies, we can close water loops,
  2. Maintaining the parameters of absorption liquids,
  3. Reduction of wastewater volume,
  4. With the application of metal recovery systems, the amount of heavy metal sludge from wastewater neutralization requiring disposal would be reduced by an order of magnitude,
  5. Recovery of metallic mercury.
